The maker

Casa Bosques

Mexico City, Mexico

Casa Bosques began as a bookstore in Roma Norte, Mexico City. Rafael Prieto added chocolate, and it is now made between Mexico City and Brooklyn.

The house style is two ingredients: heirloom cacao and organic cane sugar. No emulsifier, no vanilla to round off the edges. The beans come from small ranches in Mexico and elsewhere in Latin America, including a rare Criollo from a family farm in Chiapas. The flavoured bars add one thing more, a spice, a nut, a preserved fruit, and stop there.

The wrappers are an artist series. Lawrence Weiner did one.

Ships from the shop in the West Village within one to two business days. Or collect at 555 Hudson: most pickup orders are ready within four hours and we hold them for seven days.
