A marble chess set, hand-carved. Coffee marble and warm brown marble playing pieces. The board is two solid marble blocks fitted together with a hidden storage compartment for the pieces.

The coffee reads dark espresso against the warm brown. Both stones are real, hand-cut, slightly variable from set to set. Lower-contrast than the green and white, more about depth than drama. The board has weight in the hand. The pieces have weight in the hand.

For the friend who plays in cafes. The couple furnishing the wood-paneled study. The milestone gift for the person who collects objects with patina.
