A backgammon set in deep blue lacquer that closes like a book and shelves like one, from Printworks in Stockholm.

Open it and the glossy board is ready, with checkers, dice and a doubling cube inside. Weighty and polished, it is the board you set out when the good bottle comes open.

For the couple who hosts. For the milestone birthday. For the living room that could use one perfect game.

Printworks

Stockholm, Sweden · Since 2017

Annette Gårdö and Patrik Westerdahl left advertising in Stockholm in 2017 to make the things they had been looking for and not finding. Their term for it is functional decoration.

A photo album handsome enough to leave on the table. A backgammon set nobody needs to put away before guests arrive. Album pages are FSC certified, acid free and heavy enough to hold a print flat.

We took the games first. They get left out on tables instead of shelved.
