Two colors in one piece. Warm pink at the rim running into a cool blue grey through the body, the way the sky moves at first light.

Grown, not cut. Isaac Monte dissolves five to seven minerals in boiling water in a large metal tank, suspends a glass form in the solution and lets the tank cool. Over the following weeks the minerals come out of the water and grow onto the glass. Nothing is glued and nothing is carved. The crystal is the object.

Two mineral colors came out of this tank at different moments. The pink concentrated at the top where the crystals formed first, the blue settled through the body as the solution kept cooling. A gradient like this is not something he can plan for. It happens or it does not.

Seven to nine inches tall. The glass form the crystals grew onto is the interior of the vase, so it holds water and fresh flowers directly. The glass is fixed in place, not removable, and the crystal itself never touches water. Scaled for three to five full stems.

He sets the chemistry, the temperature and the timing. The tank decides the rest. This is the only Dawn small vase, and the two-tone is the reason.
