Rebecca Ruebensaal had an imaginary friend as a child, a globetrotting gentleman called Mr. Boddington. About twenty years ago she gave him a stationery studio in Brooklyn.

The early work was engraved and letterpress invitations on 100 percent cotton paper, envelopes lined by hand. The cards are hand-illustrated, and monograms are still hand-painted in the Park Slope studio, one at a time.
