Le Jacquard Français

Woven at Gérardmer, in the Vosges, since 1888, on fifty-four jacquard looms. What they make is damask, which means the pattern reads on both faces of the cloth. Tea towels, napkins, placemats, runners and tablecloths, in cotton and in linen. France calls them an Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant, which is the state saying a craft is worth keeping.
